Who We Are
UWCRC 2.0 Inc. is an independent, community-driven not-for-profit organization that develops, manages, and operates high-quality, mixed-income housing designed to strengthen neighbourhoods and expand housing choice.
As one of Canada's most active not-for-profit housing developers—and the largest residential developer in downtown Winnipeg—we are among a select group of approximately 25 organizations nationwide with the experience and capacity to deliver large-scale, mixed-income, mixed-use developments. We also partner with clients to expand access to affordable, social, and transitional housing.
Our track record reflects a strong commitment to creating lasting community impact. We have delivered or currently manage more than 700 homes, including 544 affordable homes, and have approximately 1,300 additional homes in our development pipeline as of 2026.
Our History
The University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation (UWCRC) was established as an independent, charitable not-for-profit organization to support the sustainable growth of the University of Winnipeg and contribute to the revitalization of downtown Winnipeg. Guided by the principles of cultural, social, economic, and environmental sustainability, UWCRC led more than $250 million in transformative development projects, including student housing, mixed-use developments, and community-focused social enterprises.
Building on this success, UWCRC created UWCRC 2.0 Inc. in 2016 as a separately incorporated, independent organization with a broader mandate to deliver values-driven development beyond the university campus. Today, UWCRC 2.0 partners with not-for-profit organizations, post-secondary institutions, First Nations, and community organizations to develop and manage housing and community infrastructure that expands access to affordable, supportive, transitional, and mixed-income housing across Manitoba.
